Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has renewed calls for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19, revealing there are more than 2000 vaccination appointments available at the Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre (PRACC) over the next week.
There are 2300 appointments at PRACC in South Morang – part of more than 50,000 appointments that are available across the state.
Mr Andrews said every vaccination appointment that is booked takes Victoria a step closer to achieving the 70 per cent – and then 80 per cent- vaccination targets.
The state is aiming to vaccinate one million people over five weeks.
“That means we don’t have to be lockdown- certainly not statewide,” Mr Andrews said.
“Those vaccination numbers give us many more options.
“Turn up and play your part in vaccinating our way out of this.”
Mr Andrews’ plea comes as Victoria recorded 71 cases on Monday.
COVID commander Jeroen Weimar said eight of today’s cases are connected to the MyCentre childcare Centre in Broadmeadows.
The cluster has grown to 50 people since the first case was identified on Friday.
There are 1200 primary close contacts linked to the outbreak.
Mr Weimar said there are more than 600 COVID-19 exposure sites across the state.
The Department of Health has identified a number of exposure sites in Hume in recent days, including Greenvale Drive Reserve Playground, Foodworks in Dallas, Broadmeadows Valley Trail, Stabucks Coolaroo and Afghan Master Kebabs at Craigieburn Central.
