Car impounded in Campbellfield after speeding

A man detected travelling at more than double the speed limit in Campbellfield last night has had his car impounded.

Police allege the man was driving at speeds of up to 150km/h in a 70km/h zone on Syndney Road, about 8.30pm.

Officers in a police helicopter directed officers on the ground to a silver Volkswagen Golf at the intersection of Sydney Road and Gentles Avenue

Police said the driver was intercepted without incident.

A 23-year-old Roxburgh Park man had his car impounded for 30 days at a cost of $878.50.

He is expected to be charged with driving at a speed dangerous, driving in a manner dangerous and exceeding the speed limit.
