Hume Anglican Grammar’s Donnybrook campus is expanding, with work starting on a new learning centre for year 5 and 6 pupils.

Principal Bill Sweeney and Yan Yean MP Danielle Green turned the project’s first sod late last month.

Mr Sweeney said new building marked the fourth stage of the campus’ development.

“Our brand new year [five and six] centre will serve as the core learning area for the leaders of the primary school, providing them with the perfect environment to transition into secondary education,” he said.

“The development will consist of six general purpose classrooms, a thinking-cloud room, kitchenette, independent learning spaces with an adjoining all-weather, artificial turf soccer pitch and nature playground.

“Each year will see further stages constructed as we move toward a fully established prep to year 12 community in 2028.”

Ms Green thanked the school’s pupils for “inspiring me to do my job better every day”

“This expansion is part of the school building boom that is happening right across Victoria,” Ms Green said.

“Upgrading Hume Anglican Grammar, Donnybrook campus will give local students access to great classrooms and facilities, while keeping local tradies in work.”

The works are expected to be completed by early 2022.
