Country comes to town

The 94th Sunbury Agricultural Show will be held on Saturday. The popular annual event is expected to attract more than 13,000 people to the showgrounds at Clarke Oval on Riddell Road. Admission is $15 for adults, $5 for children.

Wholesale food ambitions

Wholesale business Spade and Barrow aims to create Australia’s first social wholesale food business by tackling the exodus of small farmers from the land and reducing food unnecessarily going to waste. A free talk on its plans will be held on Wednesday, October 15, from 6-8.30pm, at Just Planet Cafe, 37 O’Shanassy Street, Sunbury. Feel free to bring food to share.

Craigieburn arthritis classes

Cash, the Craigieburn arthritis self-help group, runs exercise classes every week led by qualified instructors with first aid training. There’s tai chi on Tuesdays at the Guide hall, Nordic-style walking on Wednesdays and chair exercises on Thursdays.

Meadow Heights health tips

Meadow Heights Learning Shop will run a series of free women’s health sessions in Arabic and English next month. An Arabic quit-smoking session will be held on October 14 from 11am and an English session will follow on October 16, also from 11am. Breast health information sessions take place on October 21 and 23.
