Wollert East kindergarten is still under construction, yet the three- and four- year- old kindergarten programs for 2022 already has enrolments.

Wollert resident Tejaswi Phani recently registered her twins Ayan and Ryan for kindergarten and said she’s excited to have a centre so close to home.

“We moved from Ringwood to Wollert two and a half years ago to buy our first home, which has been good as the twins keep our hands full and there is lots of space,” Ms Phani said.

“We’re looking forward to them going to kinder – it’s so important for their educational and social development.”

The kindergarten is set to be three rooms and is part of the development of the Wollert East Community Centre.

The centre will feature two fully equipped maternal and child health consulting suites, a community hall, meeting spaces for community groups and an outdoor area.

Whittlesea chair administrator Lydia Wilson said the council understands the importance of access to infrastructure and services that make communities and neighbourhoods “great places to call home”.

“We are very pleased to be working with the Victorian School Building Authority to create a space for the Wollert community and deliver the services needed for children to flourish,” Ms Wilson said.

“I would like to thank the Victorian Government for the Building Blocks grant of $2.75 million, which alongside the City of Whittlesea’s investment of $5.65 million, has made this project possible.

“We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of kinder children to the Wollert East Community Centre in January 2022.”

The Wollert East Community Centre is located on De Rossi Boulevard.
