Madrid 42 for those who dream big

Porter Davis has taken inspiration from the ever-popular Hamptons style in the brand-new Asbury façade of its Madrid 42, but as stunning as it looks kerbside, it’s indoors that the sophisticated Fifth Avenue styling steps it up to a world where refined restraint merges with extravagant luxe.

The restraint is exemplified in something as simple as the kitchen sink tap – it’s the only touch of gold found anywhere and speaks of class that needs no other embellishment.

The luxe elements are, firstly, a pair of stunning pendants suspended from a double-height ceiling above the main living domain, their bling all the brighter from the streams of natural light pouring in from double-height windows.

Next, it’s the marble-look panel (with inset gas log fire) that soars the full height of the dramatic void, which is undoubtedly the standout feature of this impressive, five-bedroom gem made for families – including multigenerational – that want the best.

The soft-grey and white colour palette throughout allows freedom to experiment with introduced colour, while exuding a calming and subtle backdrop to life. Combine this with floorboards and the open treads of the staircase in a dark-chocolate toned timber and the whole look is anchored in warm earthiness.

The lavish, street-facing main bedroom downstairs has a chic dual-basin en suite which leads to a walk-in robe, but because there’s another main bedroom up top, this one could be delegated to guests if preferred.

The floorboards in the entry hall flow past a lounge/theatre room, with a powder room opposite, before culminating in the gorgeous dual-zone living domain and sumptuous kitchen.

An abundance of natural light from large windows and an extra-long window splashback bathe the cook’s all-white space. Streamlined cabinetry is also in abundance, and a stone-topped island bench and a large walk-in gallery pantry (linking with the laundry) are other headliners.

All this connects, via a wide slider, to a spacious deck with a pair of ceiling fans, while the garden area of the 30-metre-deep block (there’s also a 28-metre-deep option) is big enough for the dog and kids to have a romp, but small enough to keep maintenance at a low level.

The four upstairs bedrooms – each with a walk-in robe – plus the main bathroom and separate toilet range around a large carpeted living room. One of these bedrooms is another main with an en suite, underscoring the flexibility throughout.

The Madrid 42 is Porter Davis at its best, so if your dreams are big, look out: this one will win you over.
