Broadmeadows Primary school pupils are taking their education to new heights.
The school’s science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) teachers have teamed up with iFLY skydiving centre to create a unique curriculum.
Teacher Natalie Eggins said the iFLY lessons let pupils see their education “come to life”.
“The program also goes beyond learning – students are provided with an enriching day of fun, innovation and interaction that they’ll remember for a long time,” Ms Eggins said.
“Especially after the year students just had from home schooling, this program provides a unique experience that extends outside the classroom, and gives students a fun reason to be engaged in STEM learning.”
iFLY STEM educator Ellis Hayes-Hills said the classes gets pupils “out of their comfort zone”.
“They get to learn about science, and come in and fly and have some fun,” Mr Hayes-Hills said.
“The best part about it is that kids get to see the practical fun of science.
“It’s the best way to mix in what they’re learning in school.”
Ms Eggins said the iFLY STEM educators guide students through an immersive, hands-on experience that consists of interactive presentation, physics demonstrations and creative experiments.
“Students of Broadmeadows Primary School enjoyed their first iFLY experience of suiting up, and then flying with a specialist instructor, and have now opened their minds to learning more about science and physics,” she said.
