Man arrested after carjacking

A man has been arrested following an aggravated carjacking in Mill Park this afternoon.

A 29-year-old man is alleged to have attempted to steal two vehicles on Betula Avenue about 12.30pm.

He then carjacked a third car after threatening the victim with a weapon.

Police said the man’s escape route was blocked by a truck. He was further cornered by police cars when they arrived at the scene.

A Preston man is in custody and is assisting police with their inquiries.
