Target to be converted to Kmart

Craigieburn shoppers are in for a change with Target in Craigieburn Central to be converted to a Kmart.

Last year, Target announced plans to convert a number of stores into Kmarts, including at Pacific Epping. Yesterday, Target added a number of new stores – including Craigieburn – to the list

The store is set to be converted early this year.

In an online update, the company said it understood the closures will affect a lot of people.

As part of the overall changes, 10 to 25 large format Target stores and 50 Target Country stores will be closed with a number of others converted to Kmarts.

“We are proud to have a rich history as an Australian company and we are committed to serving you, our valued customers, now and into the future.

“We have many Target stores which remain unaffected by today’s announcement and you can continue to shop with us online with the same ease and convenience.”

All Target team members from stores scheduled for conversion to Kmart will receive an offer of employment from Kmart.

For our Target team members that are unable to be redeployed, they will be given consideration for new roles created in Kmart and Catch as those businesses continue to grow.

The Epping Target store will be converted from early to mid 2021.
