Nankervis century key for Plenty Valley

Callum Nankervis found some form in a big way to lead Plenty Valley to victory in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association north-west on Saturday.

Nankervis, who had got starts in his first two matches, belted 109 for the Bats in an innings that included nine fours and five sixes.

The Bats finished at 5-250 off their 50 overs.

Preston were able to pile on the runs, but wickets proved their biggest issue, as they were 8-198 when play was called off due to rain.

The Bats were awarded victory via the Duckworth-Lewis system.

The win is the Bats second in a row and they are one of five teams with two wins after three rounds.

Kew, which defeated Taylors Lakes, is the only undefeated team.

Kew made a massive 8-251 on Saturday against the Lions.

The Lions were bowled out for 126, with Jarrod Wakeling top scoring with 27. The Lions remain without a win.

Hoppers Crossing returned to the winners list against Ivanhoe. The Cats made 167 with Sanka Abeyruwan top scoring with 63.

The Cats then bowled Ivanhoe out for 122. Bhaumik Jani took 6-22 for the Cats.

Altona opened its account with a Duckworth-Lewis victory against Werribee.

The Tigers made 6-180 on the back of the Dean brothers, with Shaun top scoring with 81 not out.

Altona was 4-163 when rain stopped play with seven overs remaining. James Grubb was 58 not out.

Williamstown and Melton shared the points in their match.

The Seagulls made 6-180 with Brenton Hodges top scoring with 47. Matt Stead took 2-40 for the Lions.

The Lions were 7-134 in the 30th over when the match was stopped. Skipper Nathan Tyalor had top scored with 45.

A Josh Hahnel century helped Yarraville get the win against Coburg. Yarraville made 7-245 on the back of Hahnel innings of 100.

The Eagles then made light work of Coburg, bowling them out for 123.

Mitchell Cross took three wickets for the Eagles.

Brunswick defeated St. Bernards OC in the other match.
