Friends and family have paid tribute to Celeste Manno after her body was found at a property in Mernda this morning.
Ms Manno’s body was found about 4.10am at a Umbria Road property.
A 35-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
He remains under police guard.
It is believed the pair were known to each other.
At the scene, family and friends of Ms Manno gathered at the police tape throughout the morning, crying and hugging. One woman collapsed to the ground and cried as she repeatedly said “how is this possible?” and “I can’t believe it”.
On social media, one friend wrote, “you were the most beautiful soul I have ever encountered, I am absolutely shocked and devastated. I have no words, my heart is broken.
“You are so loved and will be missed by all.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
