Craigieburn residents are making the most of being able to head to the shops after stores were closed for three months.
With the majority of shops in Craigieburn Central now open, the centre is seeing an influx of shoppers strolling through.
Centre Manager Janet Reading said since the easing of restrictions on October 28, they had seen an increase in foot traffic compared to the same time last year.
More than 200 people queued outside TK Maxx at 6am on October 30 for its reopening.
“It was lovely to see customers enjoying a coffee with friends, shopping for clothes and getting their post-lockdown makeovers,” Ms Reading said.
“Whilst customers have experienced queues, difficulty in booking appointment times and increased safety measures, we’re incredibly grateful to all members of our community for playing their part to help keep everyone safe.
“We encourage customers to plan their visit ahead of time and try and shop outside of peak times – early morning or late afternoon. This helps us manage the social distancing aspects still in place.”
Ms Reading said that 85 per cent of shops in the centre were now open and expected that number to increase as more restrictions ease.
“It is important for us to continue working closely with our retailers, supporting them on a case-bycase basis, so they have every opportunity to offer a great experience leading into the
busy Christmas period and well into a more positive 2021.”
