Mill Park man has car impounded

A Mill Park man had his car impounded after allegedly being caught speeding in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police saw a Mazda 3 sedan travelling on the Metropolitan Ring Road about 2.53am and it’s alleged the car was detected doing 139km/h in an 80km/h speed zone before officers intercepted it.

The car was impounded on-the-spot for 30 days at a cost of $884.00.

The driver, a 33-year-old Mill Park man who is on a probationary license, is expected to be charged on summons for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and failing to display P plates.

This impound forms part of Operation Saturn, a two-and-a-half-week state-wide road policing operation.

The operation commenced on Thursday, 22 October and aims to prevent further trauma on our roads caused by dangerous driving in both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
