A new prep-year 12 school is set to be built in Mickleham.
The Potter George Group, which is building the Trijena residential project in Mickleham, has sold a parcel of land for the new private school to be built on.
The 40-hectare site of land, which is off Mickleham Road, was sold for $6.82 million. Half of the site will be used for the school.
The land, which is in the green wedge, was surplus to the needs of the Potter George Group.
Project director Scott Payten said the sale demonstrated the rising appeal of Melbourne’s northern growth corridor as a premier family lifestyle destination.
He said 50 per cent of the estate had been built, with 300 blocks already sold.
“With homesites now selling from $261,000, and the Mickleham area emerging as a premier residential location with its open-space lifestyle and proximity to great amenities, we are experiencing strong demand from couples and families,’’ he said.
“Its affordability, location and proximity to future amenities such as schools, recreation centres, Westfield shopping centre, open space and parks have been major draw cards.
“The college project will provide further impetus for families to move here and is a huge vote of confidence in the area.”
It’s the second piece of land the group has sold for a school, with the first for a state school.
