Tennis players will be serving aces after the completion of the redevelopment of the TH Hurrey Reserve in Yan Yean.
The completed $4.8 million project which started last year, includes a new pavilion with public toilets, a new carpark with a safer entrance, a barbebcue area and landscaping to improve the facility.
There has also been the addition of two new hard courts to take the total to six courts, making it Whittlesea’s first district-level facility.
Two of the existing synthetic grass courts were also upgraded.
Yan Yean Tennis Club senior coach James Howard said the exciting redevelopment will support the participation growth at the club and provide a space for Doreen, Mernda and Whittlesea communities to gather after lockdown restrictions are lifted.
“The courts are amazing, they’re the same surface as the Australian Open,” he said.
“To have a full kitchen, male and female toilets and showers, we’re very very lucky.”
