An Epping mum has been nominated for the AusMumpreneur Awards for her work inspiring other women to share their stories.
Rosa Carrafa has been nominated in the Big Ideas and Women Will Change the World categories at the annual awards, which recognise the contributions of mums in business.
The mother of two said the nominations came as a shock.
“I must admit, I was nervous upon the news and it took me over a week to soak it all in and share it with my sons and the community around me. At first, I thought, ‘Why me?’,” she said.
Ms Carrafa is in the process of starting up a local publishing house which she hopes will be able to help people share their experiences of grief, loss and change.
Three years ago, she wrote an affirmation book, titled ‘Aspects of Me’ and is about to publish her second book, ‘Aspects of Death’, drawing from her experiences following the death of six members of her family – including her parents and brother – in a car accident when she was 14 years-old.
She also recently launched a podcast, ‘Hope Talk’.
“I am a 50-year-old mamma and I am learning so much more about myself and how I can give to those who are feeling as I do,” she said.
“I want to encourage people to write or record their stories so they can be told.
“My big idea is to have my publishing house up and running to publish books from children through to adults.”
