UPDATE: A staff member at Bunnings’ Craigieburn store has tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement, Bunnings chief operation officer Debbie Poole said staff members who were in close contact with the infected team member are isolating at home.
“As a precaution, we have conducted an additional deep clean of the store and we have briefed our team and we’re providing support and guidance,” Ms Poole said.
“We are following government health advice and our absolute focus is the health and safety of our team members and customers.”
EARLIER: The number of coronavirus cases linked to the Northern Hospital’s emergency department has grown over the weekend, with another three healthcare workers testing positive for the virus.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) yesterday announced that the number of cases linked to the outbreak had grown to five.
The department first confirmed that cases were linked to the hospital emergency department on Friday afternoon, stating that two healthcare workers had tested positive.
DHHS said the emergency department remained open but was operating at reduced capacity.
Two cases of COVID-19 have also been confirmed at Kolbe Catholic College in Greenvale.
In a letter to parents yesterday, principal Nick Scully said two students had tested positive for the virus.
He said the school would be closed for cleaning until the end of the week.
One case of coronavirus has also been confirmed at KFC’s Craigieburn store.
The store was closed for cleaning yesterday after a store manager tested positive.
Alll team members who have come into close contact with the manager are now self-isolating and the store has reopened.
It comes as Health Minister Jenny Mikakos on Friday announced that postcode 3064, which takes in Craigieburn, had the highest number of active COVID-19 cases in the state.
Active cases are defined as someone who has tested positive, is currently in isolation and being monitored by DHHS and who has not yet recovered.
Door knockers from DHHS are out in Craigieburn today, providing residents with advice and directing them to testing centres.
