Four cars impounded in Melbourne’s north

Police from Greensborough Highway Patrol had a busy Wednesday night, impounding four cars across the northern suburbs.

The first incident happened in Lalor about 4.30pm, after police allegedly spotted a BMW M2 being driven at 108km/h in a 60km/h zone on Dalton Road.

The 22-year-old probationary driver had his car impounded and is expected to be charged on summons with speeding and driving a prohibited probationary vehicle.

A 19-year-old P-plater then came to the attention of police on the Metropolitan Ring Road at Thomastown about 9.10pm.

Police allege the man was driving at 168km/h in a 100km/h zone.

Police said the man had only picked up his Holden Commodore earlier that day.

The man’s car was impounded and he will be charged on summons for speeding offences.

The man was one of three stopped by Greensborough Highway Patrol officers within 50 minutes.

A Reservoir man had his car impounded for 30 days after he was seen driving without his headlights on along Dalton Road about 9.45pm.

Police conducted a licence check and found that 21-year-old was a disqualified learner driver,

The man will be charged on summons for driving while disqualified.

Police then pulled over a new Ford Mustang being driven by a 53-year-old man on Yan Yean Road, Plenty about 10pm.

Police allege the man was driving at 128km/h in a 70km/h zone.

The South Morang man’s car was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $895 and he will be charged on summons with speeding offences.
