IN FOCUS: Serious golf and family fun

Are you a golf nut who would love to improve your game? How does shot-tracking technology to achieve that sound to you? If you mean business, the TopTracer at Latrobe Golf Park in Bundoora could be your new best golf buddy. But the tech is also about a whole lot of fun.

“This state-of-the-art TopTracer is pretty amazing,” says team member Jackson Perry. “It will tell you everything about your shot – from distance to speed and launch and landing angles. It will help improve your game.

“It provides serious information, but TopTracer is also a lot of fun when a group gets together and sets up challenges, a bit of friendly competition.

“After a go at the driving range, whether it was serious or friendly, you could head for a sit in our beer garden [we’re fully licensed] to swap war stories.

“There are big screens to watch major live sports, and if you time it right, we have 4-6pm Happy Hours during the week.”

TopTracer screen is installed near the beer garden, next door to the driving range with 32 all-weather bays, and there’s great-priced balls and clubs for hire.

Here’s another question: Who doesn’t love mini golf?

From three years old to 103, everyone has fun playing it – and when the course is as adventurous and creative as Latrobe Golf Park makes it, mini golf goes to the next level. In fact, the pre-schoolers could have just as much fun exploring the fun features along the 18-hole course.

Jackson says providing fun for the whole family has always been the focus of the business.

“We hold fully catered, stress-free functions, work do’s and parties, where driving range or mini golf [or both] can come into play. Spaces are large so you can bring a whole gang.

“We also do kid’s parties, with different packages available.”

One last question: What else does this nationally recognised park offer?

You can fine-tune skills with short game tees, putting green, a bunker, a chipping area, and range targets with AFL posts. There’s a coaching centre, and even a custom club-fitting area.

But most of all, you’ll have fun.
