EDFL: Brothers Addam and Nick Maric back at Greenvale

Former Greenvale players Addam and Nick Maric are returning to the Essendon District Football League club for the 2015 season.

The brothers who have been playing with the Werribee Tigers in the VFL, will be joined by Tom Hill, who spent time on both Greater Western Sydney’s and Western Bulldogs AFL lists.

Jets president Bruce Kent said the club was still looking at adding more players to the list.

“Those three players will be at the club next season,” Kent said.

“The club is talking to a number of players. They have to make up their mind if they want to come across.

“The process will continue until Christmas.”

Kent said Cameron Wight and Eric Kuret won’t be returning to the club, which finished fifth in the premier division.

“Eric is going to Brisbane for work, while Cam [who is joining Riddell District Football League side Romsey] wanted a change of environment.

“We never lose many players.”

Regaining its spot in the top four isn’t the only aim for the Jets, who are looking at fielding a third senior side next year.

Keilor, Aberfeldie, Strathmore, Westmeadows and Roxburgh Park have also expressed interest in having an extra senior team next year.

“We are desperate to have a third side and as far as we are aware it will be going ahead,” Kent said.

“We are likely to know in next 10 days or so from the EDFL whether the competition will go ahead.

“Many of our kids can’t play senior football at Greenvale.

“A very substantial number of junior players will give up footy and be lost to the game if they can’t get a game.’’

He said the success of having a second under-18 side showed there was room for it.

“We fought hard to get a second under-18 side and it’s one of the best things to happen to the club.’’
