Man charged following Tullamarine shooting

An Ararat man is facing a series of charges after allegedly ramming two police cars in a Tullamarine carpark last week.

The 36-year-old man was charged on Saturday with a number of offences including four counts of aggravated intentional exposure of a police officer to risk by driving, four counts of aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving, theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and reckless conduct endangering life.

He was remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

The man came to the attention of police in the carpark of a McDonald’s on Mickleham Road in Tullamarine on February 7.

Police allege the man rammed two police vehicles, resulting in an officer shooting him in the shoulder.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A Stawell woman, 36, who was arrested at the time, has been released pending further enquiries.
