Broadmeadows back then in the spotlight

As part of its 40th anniversary, Broadmeadows shopping centre invited customers to trawl through their old photos and submit their favourites for a good old-fashioned photo competition.

Last week, the judges voted Craigieburn resident Josie Mitzi’s photo as the winner.

Ms Mitzi’s print was given to her by her mother-in-law. The image is of her husband, Chris, straddling a tricycle as a three-year-old in front of his then Broadmeadows home.

“It’s a very innocent photo of him – he’s changed a lot since then,” Ms Mitzi said with a laugh.

“It’s a treasured memory his mother had of him in the days when times were simpler and you could let your children play in the street.”
