UPDATE: The M80 Ring Road has partially re-opened near Sydney Road after a B-Double truck crashed over the centre median this morning.
The right lanes remain closed in both directions.
Two lanes are open and the speed has been reduced to 40km/h.
VicRoads is urging drivers to obey overhead signals and leave room for safe merging.

EARLIER: The M80 Ring Road has been closed in both directions at Sydney Road following a serious collision.
The incident occurred underneath the Sydney Road overpass at about 11.48am.
The MFB said a B-Double has crashed over the centre median of the ring road under the Sydney Road overpass.
MFB crews are on the scene and have requested assistance from hazmat specialists.
Firefighters are working to stem the flow of diesel into nearby drains.

VicRoads is advising motorists to exit the ring road at the Sydney Road exit and then use the entry ramps to get back onto the freeway.
Emergency services are on the scene and delays are expected for some time.
