By Laura Michell

A man washing his car in a Bundoora street was allegedly assaulted with a pole during an attempted carjacking.

The man was approached by two men while washing his car on Sanctuary Drive  about 9.20am on April 24.

It’s alleged one of the men demanded the man’s car keys and assaulted him with a pole when he refused.

The offenders then left in a dark grey hatchback that was later spotted in the western suburbs.

Police intercepted the car and arrested a 21-year-old Prahran man.

He has been charged with a number of offences, including attempted aggravated carjacking, attempted burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and criminal damage.

A 15-year-old Heidelberg West girl was also arrested and charged with unrelated offences. She was remanded to appear in court at a later date.

A second man allegedly involved in the attempted carjacking is yet to be spoken to by police.
