Man dies following alleged hit-run in High Street, Epping

A man allegedly hit by a car while crossing a road in Epping has died.

Police believe the 26-year-old was crossing High Street at a set of traffic lights about 8pm on February 14, when he was struck by a vehicle.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition. He died in hospital on February 28.

The driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Mill Park man, was arrested after attending Epping police station after the collision.

He has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury, unlicensed driving, failing to stop and failing to render assistance.

He has been remanded in custody to face Melbourne magistrates court on June 7.
