The confidence continues to grow for Greenvale Kangaroos in Victorian Premier Cricket.
The Kangaroos have turned a corner since the Christmas break, winning two games from three in the new year.
The Kangaroos entered day two of their match with Kingston Hawthorn with the game in their favour. Having made 232, the Kangaroos had the Hawks in trouble at 3-36.
The Kangaroos continued that momentum on day two as they bowled out the Hawks for 170.
Kangaroos captain-coach Matthew Love said it was a pleasing performance.
“It was fantastic with both our firsts and seconds having wins, so it was a really good weekend,” he said.
“We still had seven wickets to get and still had to field and bowl well, as they were a one or two partnerships away from taking it close.
“We had a couple of run-outs, which showed how switched on we were in the field.
“There’s an air of confidence and everyone is feeding off each other and there’s that added belief.”
Sunam Gautam continued his good form, taking 3-29, while Will Sheffield took 3-46.
Love, who missed this game, said it was good to see Sheffield among the wickets.
“He’s been threatening to do that,” Love said.
“He’s had a few injuries. He was able to bowl with some freedom on the weekend.
“Hopefully, he can continue that for the rest of the season and into his English season.”
With plenty of time remaining, the Kangaroos were sent back in.
They finished 1-55 after facing 12 overs.
It was good day for the Kangaroos, with their second XI side also getting the win.
Love said they were achieving what they had set out to do after the break.
“The approach after Christmas was to keep pushing forward and keep improving and that’s what we’re doing,” he said.
The Kangaroos face Dandenong in a two-day match this weekend. The game will be played over Saturday and Sunday, instead of consecutive Saturdays.
