Plenty Valley split its games in the opening week of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association’s under-15 JC Craig Shield.
Competing in the north group, the Bats are sitting 2-2 with two matches and a bye remaining.
The Bats got off to a good start at the tournament, beating St Bernard’s on day one.
The Bats made a massive 9-184 from their overs, with skipper Vihanga Kumarage top-scoring with 58. Sebastien Warrillow chipped in with 34.
St Bernard’s kept in touch with the run rate for most of the day, but fell short, making 6-173.
Ryan Zammit was the mainstay of the St Bernard’s innings, finishing 92 not out.
The Bats made it two from two when they defeated Preston in round two.
Preston made 7-137 from its overs, with Anurag Joshi taking two wickets for the Bats.
The Bats made 5-147 in reply, with opener Vihanga Fernando top-scoring with 51.
The next match for the Bats was against Kew.
Kew piled on the runs to make 7-183.
The Bats fell well short, bowled out for 145. Jai Bhan top-scored with 35 after coming in at No.7.
In the Bats’ fourth match, they fell to Ivanhoe.
The Bats had their toughest day with the bat, bowled out for 111.
Warrillow top-scored with 25 as just two players passed 20.
Ivanhoe reached the runs five wickets down before finishing 9-121.
Kumarage and Joshua Campbell took three wickets each for the Bats.
The Bats next match is on Tuesday.
