Craigieburn nails T20 finals berth

Two wins on Sunday were enough to earn Craigieburn a spot in the Cricket Victoria Women’s Community Cricket north-west A T20 final.

Craigieburn trailed second-placed Tullamarine by two points heading into a round of double-headers, leaving the side needing to win at least one of the two matches.

First up, Craigieburn faced Hoppers Crossing while Tullamarine faced top side Ballarat Women’s.

Craigieburn restricted Hoppers Crossing to 2-94 from its overs. The Eagles passed the target with five balls left in the innings, finishing on 3-97.

Tullamarine lost to Ballarat. Ballarat made 3-170 from its overs, with the Demons falling short by making 5-147.

Robyn McPherson top scored with 67 for the Demons.

The results meant that the Eagles had moved into second spot by two points heading into the final round.

In the final round, the Eagles faced second bottom side Altona Roosters, while the Demons faced bottom team Carlton-Brunswick.

The Eagles made 5-117 from their overs, before doing the job with the ball by, bowling the Roosters out for 55 to seal a finals spot.

The Demons finished their season on a high when they easily accounted for Carlton-Brunswick.

The Eagles will face Ballarat Women’s in the grand final on Sunday.

The Eagles will be chasing to win their second premiership this year and third overall.

In March, they won the Cricket Victoria Women’s Community Cricket north-west competition grand final against Hoppers Crossing.
