One of Melbourne’s most historic gardens will be open to the public this month as part of Open Gardens Victoria.
Visitors will be able to explore the 1850s cottage garden at Ziebell’s Farmhouse in Thomastown on the weekend of November 17 and 18 and gain an insight into how the garden would have looked more than 160 years ago.
The heritage garden is maintained by the Friends of Westgarthtown, who also care for the farmhouse museum.
Visitors to the garden will also be able to buy plants and seeds.
Friends of Westgarthtown committee member Gillian Borrack said the garden shows the culture which has endured at the Westgarthtown Pioneer Precinct.
“This historic garden provides a rich insight into the lives and interests of Christian and Sophia Ziebell and the succeeding generations who lived here,” she said.
The garden, on German Lane, will be open 10am-4.30pm. Entry is $8 for adults and $5 for students.
