Northern Knights captain Madeline Brancatisano has realised her AFL dream after being selected by Melbourne at the AFLW draft on Tuesday.
Brancatisano, who comes from a basketball background, was selected by the Demons with their second selection, pick 15.
The Demons website said Brancatisano’s ability to clear space by hand was real feature of her game and made her stand out in the draft pool, while she tested well for speed at the draft combine.
Brancatisano played 10 games for the Knights this season including the TAC Cup Girl’s grand final, as well as playing six games for Carlton’s VFLW team.
Brancatisano is the second Knights female player to be drafted to an AFLW club and will join her former Knights team mate Maddy Guerin at the Demons.
Guerin played one game this year after being taken by the Demons at pick 14 last year.
