Memorable FFA Cup win for Hume City

Hume City made a memorable debut on the national stage as it pulled off an amazing win in the FFA Cup.

It took until the last kick of the second period of overtime to separate the City and the Brisbane Strikers, with City winning 4-3 in front of their home crowd.

While City opened the scoring through Nick Hegarty in the third minute, they had to come from behind not once, but twice to get the win.

Scores were 1-1 at half time and were that way for most of the second half.

The Strikers scored their second goal in the 90th minute and it looked like the game was over and they would advance to the round of 16.

Marcus Schroen scored the equaliser a minute later to send the game into overtime.

It was the Strikers through Scot Coulson who scored first in overtime in the 103rd minute.

Enter Schroen three minutes later who put his side back at 3-3.

As the game was looking to go to penalties, Newman crossed the ball towards the post where an own goal from Greig Henslee gave City the win with the final play of the game.
