In a top-of-the-table clash with Airport West, the Demons produced their best performance of the season to inflict the Eagles’ first loss of the year.
After an even first quarter, the Demons turned up the heat to get out to a 31-point lead at half-time.
As well as having 10 scoring shots for the second quarter, the Demons were able to keep the Eagles goal-less.
The second half was all the Demons, who extended their lead in both terms to eventually run out 15.16 (106)-5.6 (36) winners.
Steven Vocale, Ryan Pretty and Angelos Sidhom kicked three goals each for the Demons and were named among the best.
Daniel Devine was named best on ground.
The win moves the Demons back to the top of the ladder, percentage ahead of the Eagles.
Craigieburn cemented its spot in the top four with a comfortable win against Taylors Lakes.
The Eagles got off to a hot start with seven first-quarter goals and maintained that lead going into half-time.
The Lions could have been closer if not for poor kicking.
The Eagles broke the game open in the third quarter with seven goals to none before going on to winning, 20.13 (133)-7.15 (57).
Dean Limbach kicked 10 goals for the second time this season to lead the way on Saturday. He has kicked 48 goals in 10 games.
Damien Bugeja and Joshua Vilinskis were named the Eagles’ best.

In premier division, Greenvale overcame a poor first quarter to beat Essendon Doutta Stars.
The Stars shocked the Jets early with an eight goal to one first quarter.
The Jets slowly chipped away as they kept the Stars goal less for the next two quarters.
The Jets hit the front in the last, eventually winning 10.9 (69)-9.11 (65).
In division 2, Roxburgh Park upset ladder leader East Sunbury 18.11 (119)-8.5 (53).
