Mixed weekend for Greenvale Kangaroos

Greenvale Kangaroos’ have claimed their second win of the Victorian Premier Cricket season, with a final over T20 win against Casey-South Melbourne.

Casey-South Melbourne elected to bat  in which proved to be the wrong decision. Both openers were gone cheaply and they were in trouble at 2-3.

The Kangaroos bowlers did a good job restricting the batsmen, with no bowler conceding more than a run a ball.

Casey-South Melbourne fought its way to 8-95. Kangaroos acting skipper Kyle Adams took two wickets to be the pick of the bowlers.

James Rosewarne continued to enjoy his move to the top of the order, guiding  the Kangaroos to the win.

Rosewarne and Sunam Gautam put on 47 for the opening partnership, before Gautam fell for 20. Haseeb Qureshi came and went quickly, before the Kangaroos settled.

Rosewarne and Zaheer Hussain looked set to cruise to victory, before Hussain was out for 21 in the second last over, still three runs short of victory.

The Kangaroos finished 3-99, hitting the winnings runs with three balls to spare.

Rosewarne top scored, making 48 not out.

It was one of two T20 matches for the Kangaroos this weekend, having already faced Northcote on Saturday.

The Duckworth-Lewis system was needed to decide the result after heavy rain stopped play in Northcote’s innings.

The Kangaroos made 8-127 for its overs, with Jevon Kett top scoring with 25. Northcote was cruising at 3-83 when rain halted play in the 11th over.

Mahesh Kodamullage was the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets.

It’s another double weekend for the Kangaroos coming up. They face Melbourne University on Saturday and then Kingston Hawthorn on Sunday, both in T20 matches.
