Roodi Kanna and Yousif Aziz will take to the stage in the middle of Broadmeadows on Friday as part of a showcase to highlight the talents of Hume’s youngest residents.
The pair will perform their poetry and songs at the civic plaza as part of the Hume Interfaith Network (HIN) Youth’s Showcase.
Mr Aziz said he was excited to be sharing his voice with the community.
Mr Kanna, who will be performing in Arabic, said this will be his first time taking to the stage in Australia.
HIN Youth co-chair Salat Youhana said the free concert was about reminding people about the contributions young people can make to the community.
HIN, which started in 2015, comprises young people from different backgrounds, many of whom had recently arrived in Australia.
She said the group decided to stage a showcase after taking part in a series of poetry workshops with Melbourne poets Joel McKerrow and Alia Gabres.
The showcase will also feature dance performances, live music and stalls from police, council and the HIN.
It’s at the civic plaza at the Hume Global Learning Centre, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, from 3.30-6.30pm.
