Greenvale Kangaroos remain undefeated

Greenvale Kangaroos remain undefeated in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association’s senior division after a thrilling win against Keilor on Saturday.

Played as a one-day match after day one was called off due to the condition of the ground, the game went down to the final over of the day.

The Kangaroos made 5-147 off its overs, with opener Anthony Barton top-scoring with 68. Tallan Wright chipped in with 44.

Keilor was in trouble at about 4-40, but recovered to push the match to the final over. Needing four runs off the last two balls, a Dan Schuppan shot was caught on the boundary, ending Keilor’s chances when all out for 144.

Chathura Darshana was the pick of the bowlers for the Kangaroos, taking 6-40. Peter Manser took 3-25.

It’s the second time this season the Kangaroos have defeated Keilor in the final over of the day.

The Kangaroos sit third on the ladder, seven points behind ladder leaders Yarraville Club who they play on Sunday in a catch-up one-day match.

It will be a big weekend for the Kangaroos as they play day one of their match against Tullamarine on Saturday.

Tullamarine sits bottom of the ladder. On Saturday, they lost to Airport West St Christophers.

Having made 175 on day one of the match, the Tullamarine bowlers proved no match for Airport West St Christophers, who passed the total eight wickets down.

With the tail wagging, Airport West St Christophers made 223.

Tullamarine’s bowlers shared the wickets around, with four players taking two wickets each.
