Cake decorating

Join the Cake Decorators Association of Victoria at Whittlesea library, 57-61 Laurel Street, Whittlesea, on Wednesday, December 7, and pick up tips for decorating Christmas cakes. The workshop runs from 10.30am-12.30pm.

It’s carnival time

Craigieburn Primary School’s carnival is on Friday, December 9, 3.30-7.30pm, at 87-91 Grand Boulevard, Craigieburn. There will be fun for the whole family with lots of attractions and great food. Unlimited ride bands will cost $35.

Art exhibition

Visit the Great Hall at Whittlesea council offices, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang, until Wednesday, December 21, to view artworks by some of the region’s talented artists in the Mosaic of Life exhibition. Showcased will be the work of artists of all abilities, ages and cultural backgrounds.

Afternoon of song

Join the Greenbrook Singers at Lalor library on Tuesday, December 13, for an afternoon of song. Enjoy old favourites and multicultural songs while having a cuppa. It’s at 2A May Road, Lalor, from 1.30 to 2.30pm.

A helping hand to perform

Community groups have until January 6 to apply for a grant of up to $2500 towards their performance or exhibition costs at the Broadmeadows Street Festival. The 2017 festival will be held along Tanderrum Way on Sunday, April 9, from 1-7pm.

Walk through Bethlehem

Join St Peter’s Primary School in its ‘Walk Through Bethlehem’ on December 21-23. The event takes participants through a live nativity scene, telling the story of the birth of Jesus. It’s from 9pm-midnight at 32 Wedge Street, Epping, and entry is by gold coin donation.

Family night

Join St Joseph’s Primary School students and Hazel Glen Scouts at Bunnings, 761 Plenty Road, Mill Park, on Thursday, December 8, for a Christmas family night featuring a get-together with Santa, a jumping castle, fairy floss and a performance from the Salvation Army band. Bookings essential.

Scouts’ fundraiser

Celebrate Christmas with a real Christmas tree from Epping North Scouts. Trees will be sold at Bunnings on Cooper Street, Epping, on the Saturdays of December 10 and 17 and Sunday, December 18; and at the Lyndarum shops at Lyndarum Drive on Sunday, December 11. Orders can be made online until the Wednesday before collection dates.
