Northern Knights’ Patrick Lipinski was the bolter in Friday night’s AFL draft, as he was selected by the Western Bulldogs.
A late developer, having only played two games as a bottom age player for the Knights in the TAC Cup, Lipinski joins the premiers having been selected at pick 28.
He wasn’t expected to be selected until later in the draft.
A move from the forward line to the midfield early in the season was the catalyst for Lipinski’s standout season.
He produced two best on ground performances in his first two games in the midfield. While his season was interrupted due to a broken hand, he still was invited to the draft camp.
Lipinski said earlier this year he was happy to just make the Knights list, having not been on the list last year.
““I wanted to see how I went and I wanted to come into the squad and play some good football,” he said.
Lipinski, a Bulldogs supporter, joins another former Eltham and Knights player at the Bulldogs, Marcus Bontempelli.
