Seventeen people have been arrested over theft and drug-related crimes as part of a police operation in the northern suburbs.
Police in Whittlesea and Darebin stepped out in high numbers last week as part of Operation Influx.
The rolling operation is aimed at making Whittlesea and Darebin safer communities by targeting vehicle crimes and burglary.
This is the fourth time the operation has run in the area in the last few months.
Last week’s arrest involved a range of offences including theft, handling stolen goods and possessing drugs of dependence.
One of those arrested was a South Morang man, 26, who was charged for stolen plates and possessing a drug of dependence.
Police are also investigating his involvement in historical matters.
He was remanded in custody.
Superintendent Tim Hansen said the rolling operation would be run again later in the year.
“During these operations, we have effectively identified crime and gathered vital intelligence to prevent future incidents,” he said.
In May, 54 people were arrested for crimes such theft of and from motor vehicles, drug possession, criminal damage and handling stolen goods, as part of the operation.
